My understanding when i moved to southern california nearly 20 years ago was that in addition to perpetual sunshine palm trees movie stars and mexican food there would be no mosquitoes.

But mosquitoes won t necessarily live in these places. Mosquitoes can also come through the vents of air conditioners and inside your house. They are insanely annoying and aid generously in the transmission of diseases. Mosquitoes are one of the worst creatures humans deal with.

These are diseases such as zika virus malaria and rift valley fever. The attic provides a safe and relatively secure home for outside invaders. Even with their short lifespans mosquitoes can quickly become a problem because of their rapid reproduction cycle and the fact that a single female can lay as many as 300 eggs at once. Typically used as a storage room rather than as a family gathering place the lack of activity in this part of the house makes attics the perfect shelter for pests and rodents.
